BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET MAY 17

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. Members of the Board may participate in the meeting via teleconference. The Board and public may attend the meeting in the Parker Ballroom of the Hunter Henry Center on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville.

An Executive Session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. The Board meeting will be available for real-time viewing via live webcast on the IHL Web site, www.mississippi.edu.

The Academic Affairs Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning chaired by Trustee Doug Rouse, will meet on Thursday, May 17, at 8:30 a.m. Members of the Board may participate in the committee meeting via teleconference. The public may attend the meeting in the Parker Ballroom of the Hunter Henry Center on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville. The committee will meet to discuss two authorizations to plan new academic programs at Alcorn State University. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Academic Affairs Committee will also meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Shakhouls Ballroom in the Hunter Henry Center. The Finance Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning chaired by Trustee Aubrey Patterson, will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Correro Boardroom in the Hunter Henry Center. Members of the Board may participate in the meetings via teleconference. The committees will meet to discuss issues related to the successes, needs and opportunities in each area at the university. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
