MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE, CAREER READINESS SUMMIT TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 29

The Mississippi ACT Council, ACT and the ACT State Organization will host the third Mississippi College & Career Readiness Summit on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. at the Clyde Muse Center of Hinds Community College in Pearl.

Designed for secondary and post-secondary educators involved in planning and assisting the college and career readiness of Mississippi’s students, the Summit will focus on information and solutions on the several topics, including:

  • New School Counselor Curriculum
  • Strengthening core courses and dual enrollment/dual credit
  • Progression implementing the Common Core
  • Post-secondary retention and progression to graduation
  • ACT, IHL and MCCB updates

High school and district administrators, curriculum planners and counselors, college and post-secondary system administrators, advising and retention staff, and faculty from colleges of education have attended previous summits.

Registration is $30, which includes professional materials, continental breakfast and lunch. CEU and NBCC Credits will be available.

The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
