BOARD TO CONDUCT SECOND ROUND INTERVIEWS FOR UM CHANCELLOR

Members of the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) Search Committee for the next Chancellor of the University of Mississippi will meet next week to conduct second round interviews, and the Board will meet to hear the candidate recommendation(s) from the Board Search Committee.

The Board Search Committee, chaired by Trustee Amy Whitten, will meet on Thursday, May 28, 2009, beginning at 12:30 p.m., in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211 for the purpose of conducting second round interviews of candidates for the position of Chancellor. The meeting will continue on Friday, May 29, 2009, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Chancellor Interview Search Advisory Committee, a subset of the original Search Advisory Committee formed to review resumes and recommend candidates, will join the Board for the interviews. Following the second round interviews, the Board will meet beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m., also in the IHL Board Room, to receive the candidate recommendation(s) from the Board Search Committee.

An executive session for both meetings may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

Next, the Board, with assistance from Parker Executive Search, will conduct additional assessments of the recommended candidate(s). The Board hopes to publicly announce the preferred candidate for the position of Chancellor of the University of Mississippi early in the week of June 1.
