BOARD TO HOLD REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING MAY 21 AND 22

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will hold various committee meetings on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act for the committee meetings listed below, which will all be held in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211. Committee meeting start times are approximate as committee meetings will begin following the conclusion of the preceding committee meeting.

  • A meeting of the Real Estate and Facilities Committee, chaired by Trustee Scott Ross, will begin at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to review the capital facilities needs requests of Mississippi's eight public universities in anticipation of the 2009 legislative session.
  • A meeting of the Legal/Governance Committee, chaired by Trustee Bob Owens, will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss items on the Legal/Governance agenda.
  • A meeting of the Educational Policies and Programs Committee, chaired by Trustee Bettye Neely, will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss items on the Educational Policies and Programs agenda.

The Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2008, beginning at 8:30 a.m., in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211. The full Board will convene at 8:30 a.m. and will then conduct business as a committee of the whole. Various Board committees, including Educational Policies and Programs; Budget, Finance, and Audit; Real Estate and Facilities; and Legal/Governance will meet as part of the Board meeting.

An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. The Board meeting will be available for real-time viewing via live webcast on the IHL website, www.mississippi.edu

Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
