BOARD WELCOMES 2006 WITH NEW DEGREE PROGRAM, RECOGNITION OF CORPORATE SPONSORS
1/13/2006 - Jackson, Miss.

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, in its regular monthly meeting next Thursday, will consider the establishment of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Networking and Information Technology degree program at Alcorn State University, as well as recognize BellSouth and AmSouth Bank as two major corporate sponsors of the new Board Room in the Jackson State Universities Center. The Board will also receive reports on 2003-2004 Mississippi Teacher Preparation Programs and on the Student Financial Aid guidelines for federal Katrina and Rita relief funding.

Committee meetings will take place on Wednesday, January 18, beginning at 1:30 p.m., and the full Board meeting will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2006, at 8:30 a.m. All meetings will be held in the Board Room of the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road in Jackson, Mississippi.

Budget, Finance, and Audit. The agenda will include administrative guidelines for federal Katrina and Rita relief aid and other business.

2:45 p.m.

Real Estate and Facilities. The agenda will include approval of initiation of projects, construction documents, award of contracts and other business.

3:30 p.m.

Legal. The agenda will include reports of payments to outside counsel and other business.

4:00 p.m.

Governance. The agenda will include consideration of amendments to policies on travel abroad and other business.
